FAQs for Business Thinkers

Kathink is a new concept that challenges the traditional models for businesses outsourcing creative and strategic thinking to freelance Business Thinkers.

Below, you'll find answers to common questions.

  • How do I get going on Kathink?
  • Why should I maintain a high rating?
  • How do I earn money through refering other BTs?

How do I get going on Kathink?

There's no charge to register as a Business Thinker. Once you have received your first commission, you need to pay the registration fee of £200 (you must pay this before you can accept any commissions). Note that if you are excluded from the system for any reason (for example, if you attempt to contact clients directly), this fee is not refundable.

The most important thing for a new Business Thinker is to start to build a good rating.

To do this, you'll need to look for requests that match your skill set and experience, on which you are confident you can delight the client. You may choose to go in with lower fees than the client suggests, in order to compete hard for the work (but don't go under 50% as it could appear that you do not value your own services). Then, go the extra mile to provide an excellent response.

Once you have been given a good rating, you will find you see more new requests on Kathink, which gives you more opportunity.

Why should I maintain a high rating?

Simply, Business Thinkers with high ratings get to see new requests first. And because all requests can only receive a maximum number of proposals (set by the client), a Business Thinker with a lower rating may see only a fraction of the new opportunities.

In addition, before choosing which Business Thinkers to commission, clients can see your:

  • Overall average rating by previous clients
  • Total number of commissioned responses submitted
  • Comments from other clients on previous tasks

So Business Thinkers with higher ratings will also win more commissions, and charge higher fees, than less highly-rated Business Thinkers.

How do I earn money through refering other BTs?

Kathink offers a referral scheme, which lets you earn commission when other BTs you recommend get commissions.

How it works:

  • At the bottom of your account page, you'll see a link featuring a short code. Send this link to people you think will be interested in becoming BTs on Kathink.
  • When any of those people click the link (or enter your code at sign-up) and then go on to register and accept their first commission, you'll receive 20% of the registration fee (currently £40).
